Everything YarnHub does
Built for the way crafting actually goes. Half-used balls, patterns from three different countries, and four things on the needles at once.
Your stash
A stash is only useful if it tells you the truth. YarnHub records what you bought, what you have used, and what is genuinely left, so you can tell at a glance whether that half ball will finish the sleeve.
- Scan a ball band and the brand, fibre, weight and recommended hook size fill themselves in.
- Add your own photo. A picture of the actual ball in daylight beats any official swatch for matching colour later.
- Record dye lots, so you find out now rather than three rows into the yoke.
- Track remaining amounts as you work, and filter for partial balls when you want a small project.
Global catalogue
The catalogue is built and corrected by everyone using YarnHub. Search it by brand, fibre or weight, and add straight to your stash from a result.
- Search by brand, product, fibre content or weight.
- Add a yarn to the catalogue when it is missing, and everyone benefits.
- Discontinued yarns stay listed, because stashes outlive product lines.
Projects and patterns
A project links the pattern you are following to the yarn you are using. Open the PDF in the app, mark up the size you are working, and keep your place.
- Pattern PDFs render in the app, so you are not switching to another viewer mid-row.
- Mark up the pattern directly. Highlight your size, strike through finished rows, and it stays saved.
- Each project keeps its own row counter, so several works in progress never lose their place.
- Counts sync across devices. Put it down on your phone, pick it up on the web.
Regional conversion
The same yarn is worsted in the United States, aran in Britain and 10-ply in Australia. Needle sizing is worse, because UK sizes count downward. YarnHub stores everything in a neutral internal format and shows it in the system you set.
- Set your region once. Every weight, needle and hook size across the app follows.
- Nothing is re-entered and nothing is converted destructively. Only the display changes.
- Where a size has no exact match, the nearest is shown with the metric value kept visible.
Crafting tools
The calculators pull from your own stash rather than asking you to retype what the app already knows.
- Work out whether you have enough yarn before you cast on, not halfway through.
- Gauge and swatch maths, without the back of an envelope.
- A timer for the parts of crafting that need one.
Community
Photographs of finished objects tell you things a ball band never will. Share what you are making, and see how a yarn behaves in someone else's hands before you commit to ten balls of it.
- Post finished objects and works in progress.
- See a yarn worked up by real people, in real light.
- Your stash and projects stay private unless you choose to share them.
Works offline
Opening the app without a connection still gives you your stash, your projects and your row counters. Changes you make are sent when you are back on a signal, with nothing for you to do.
- Browse and edit your stash with no connection at all.
- Row counters keep working, which matters on a train.
- Everything syncs automatically once you have a signal again.
